SAN SALVADOR, June 30, 2008.- Canada
downed USA 3-0 by score of 27-25, 25-15,
25-21 in match of Pool A in the nightcap
the opening day at the U-21 NORCECA Men’s
Junior Championship.
The Canadians won with an impressive
defense at the net and the floor combined
with an effective attack from the corners.
“We imponed our defensive games with an
assortment of attacks by the corners and
the middle that they could not solve,”
said Chris Green, the Canadian coach.
“It was a great match for us, but we can’t
take anything for granted because the
level of the competition is so high as we
could see in this first day,” he added.
The best scorers for Canada were Gordon
Perrin with 13 poiints and Jason DeRocco
and Joren Zeeman with 12 and 10
respectively. The captain Murphy Troy had
19 in the losing cause. |
